#1 they in first place in the division, something that has not happened since 1999. After week 4 they were 3-1.

#2 They beat a Rams team that no matter what anyone thinks is a team in it's decline. The Rams are not ascending and the 49ers are. So they cannot let last weeks game creep into their heads. The team they play tonight will not go quietly into the Seattle night, Holmgren will not let them just lay down.

#3 A win tonight will deal a knockour blow to the Seahawks that will leave only Arizona to contend with in the race for the West title. The sheer magnitude of such a game could prove to be to much for the young 49ers.

Having said that I tend to lean towards the thought that all will be well in Ninerland and we will all go to sleep knowing that our team is 4-1 and the kings of the division.

This may be a young team but it is full of guys who have been thrust into the fire from the beginning of their careers. The defense especially. Plummer and Webster just to name a few are the epitomy of the defenses early struggles to be where they were at the end of last season and where they are now as we are in week 6 of this campaign.
