| 49ers Coaching, Past, Present, and Future! "Kevin Babula" 49ers Paradise Fan Press 12.04.2002 I hope everyone got a good glimpse of Mike Holmgren yesterday on the Seattle sidelines. I have a feeling we are all going to be seeing a lot more of him in the coming seasons. You see Mike Holmgren and Bill Walsh (past 49er coach) are very close and what’s more Walsh has a very deep respect for Holmgren. So this off season when the Seahawks decide to let Holmgren go due to his inability to wear both his GM and Head-Coach hat Walsh we be the first person to pick-up the phone and offer more than just words of encouragement. Walsh will offer him the keys to the palace. That’s right! Holmgren will be the next Head-Coach (future 49er coach) of the 49ers. You see, there is no-way that Walsh is going to let him getaway this time. Holmgren has ALWAYS been the man that Walsh wanted to succeed him even over Siefert. So yesterday as Walsh sat up in his god-chair looking down on the field and watching the 49ers squander a big lead yet again in the second half, you know he was dreaming of looking down on the field and seeing Holmgren calling the plays instead of Mariucci (present 49ers coach). This teams in-ability to make-up for it’s weaknesses (Rumph) is 100% a coaching problem. The teams’ in-ability to make half-time adjustments is laughable. What’s more is this team’s un-imaginative use of Terrell Owens is disgusting.
It is time for Mariucci to go. It’s time for this whole coaching staff to go. Mike Holmgren will be here next season and so will HIS coaching staff. The only difference is he won’t GM that will still be Donohue (wink wink)! Holmgren will thrive here. He will install discipline and he will install imagination. The way Walsh used to. He will figure out ways to get the ball to Owens rather than figure out excuses as to why he couldn’t. Mariucci is a nice guy…too nice. It’s time we got a real Football guy. It’s time we bring Mike Holmgren home where he belongs.
