| Uncatchable Pass!!! "Shannon" 49ers Paradise Fan Press 01.08.2002 I'm very surprised nobody has written about this point. The NFL made a statement that the referees made a mistake in not calling a pass interference penalty at the end of the 49ers vs. Giants playoff game. They said there should have been off-setting penalties that should have resulted in a re-kick. The NFL forgot one major detail. To have a pass interference penalty, the pass must be catchable! That pass was not catchable. I feel the victory was NOT tainted because there was no pass interference on Chike O'Keafer. Yes, he pushed the player, but there was NO WAY Rich Seubert, a big 300+ pound offensive lineman, was going to come back to the ball to catch it when his momentum was taking him towards the end zone. That ball landed 4 feet behind him AND to the right. The pass was UNCATCHABLE and therefore pass interference was not possible on that play. Talk about it in the 49ers Forum |
