Training Camp Is Coming

THANK YOU, LORD!!! All of us should be getting on our knees and praising God right now (because it has to be divine intervention) for the things that have happened for the 49ers in the past couple of weeks.

1) Charlie Garner - Good riddance to him. He and his stupid agent were MADE for Al Davis. They can all go cry a river somewhere about how they have been cheated throughout their lives by the NFL. No, it just CAN'T be because they are just flat retarded, it HAS to be because they aren't being treated fairly. Al Davis is proving this by this lawsuit against the NFL, and Charlie Garner proved it by forcing Napoleon Kaufman out the door. The Raiders were the only team in the league who even looked twice at Garner, and you have to feel bad for Kaufman. He's just a God-fearing preacher-man and I always felt like he was a great talent in the NFL. But now that I think about it, since Gruden came in Napoleon has been on a downward spiral. Coincidence? I don't know... All I know is that I hate the Raiders, so it's a good place for Garner to go. He'll fit right in as Davis' "boy." And today's announcement that Curtis Enis has retired. I feel so bad for Cleveland. Now that they could actually use CG, he's not there. Those poor guys just can't catch a break.

2) Andre Carter - Halleluiah!!! Not only is he probably the best DE in the draft, but he is getting to fulfill his dream of playing for Mooch!!! I have heard people like Steve Young, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and Ronnie Lott talk about what it means to be a "49er." It's more than wearing the uniform, it's more than the paycheck. There is a pride, a loyalty that comes when you don the scarlet and gold. You don't just wear the jersey, you wear the legacy of all the 9ers that have come before you. Players have to be "taught" this way when they are brought on to the team. This is why people like Lawrence Phillips, and Deion Sanders couldn't hack it as a 49er. They were not only not worthy, they didn't have the dedication or pride. This is where Andre Carter comes in. His desire to play for Mooch, his love for the game and it's history... I can't help but think that Andre will be the one teaching 49er pride next year. I think that we have ourselves a lifer, and with him and Bryant Young working together, we can be confident that we will be set on the line for a few years to come.

3) Dana Stubblefield - Bryant Young, Andre Carter, Dana Stubblefield, and John Engelberger. All I have to say is, "The Boys Are Back In Town." FINALLY, we have a defensive line that could be the best run stopping group ever formed in the NFL. Where are the holes? Who do you double team? Man, I have to admit, I'm more of an offensive guy, but I'm REALLY excited to see where the 9ers are going on D. And with Stubbs back in there, I mean the BIG "D."

4) Giovanni Carmazzi - Well, I have to say that I'm not this guy's biggest fan. As a matter of fact, he's on the bottom of my list in the way of backup QB's. Honestly, I don't like Rattay either. Sadly, I really like Mirer in that backup roll. But I REALLY miss Jeff Brohm, especially after his showing in the XFL. So, GC had a great showing in NFLE last week, throwing for a couple of touchdowns including the game winner. Hopefully he's getting a little more confidence and honing the skills that put him in the NFL.

Well, that's all I really have to say. I'm not much of a draft person, I like to read about all that happened on the Monday after, so that is why I don't have much to say about it other than the info on AC. Also, I'll leave you with a quote from Bryant Young from the draft. It solidifies not only Bill Walsh's legacy, but also Andre Carter's joining the team. Have a good one, all. Later.

"This being his last draft, I think he went out with a bang. What we needed around here was to go get a great player and a good guy. Bill made it happen." -- defensive tackle Bryant Young.
