| Plug and Play "Armando Caro" 49ers Paradise Fan Press 05.16.2001 History has shown that when the Forty Niners draft for need they fail miserably. Case in point see (R.W. McQuarters, Dexter Carter, Isreal Ifeyani, etc.). Those picks were made when Bill Walsh was in retirement and was unable to look into the GM's face and say "what the hell are you thinking"? Bill Walsh has a system that works and knows exactly what type of player he needs to fit into his system. When he took a chance on a kid from Gilroy he looked at his intangibles like the fact that he threw well on the run andthe fact that he was elusive. Being elusive has offset the fact that the Forty Niners haven't drafted a offensive lineman in the first round since Harris Barton. I'm one of those people that believe that the loss of Charlie Garner will not be felt. Kevon Barlow is a hand picked running back that fits the Bill Walsh system. He's a quick and powerful runner but his most valuable trait is his ability to catch the ball. He's big enough to get you the tough yards inside and quick enough to turn the corner. I envision the Niners using him most on screen passes and passes out in the flat where his can use the open space to make the big play. The combination of Kevon Barlow and Fred Beasley will be a formidable one for years to come.
