NFC - East

Philadelphia Eagles -
Curt - 1st - Well, I don't think this is any shock to anybody. The East is filled with a bunch of teams that are sub-par. The Eagles will have McNabb back at the helm, and Duce will hopefully be back into form. These guys still really need that one big receiver, and they may have gotten that with their first round choice out of UCLA, Freddie Mitchell. Hopefully he will be the answer, instead of turning out to be a trail like the last WR picked in the 1st round from UCLA… all of us 9er fans remember that guy…

Eric - 2nd - McNabb and Duce. What a combo. Staley needs to return to his top notch ability for this team to make some noise. The Eagles finished the season with McNabb being their top rusher….not what you want. Lewis is a decent receiver, but the Eagles released their second leading receiver, Charles Johnson, and are looking for a rather small draft pick Freddie Mitchell to pick things up for them. This team goes into the season looking woozy, and don't see them taking this division.

New York Giants -
Curt - 2nd - This choice of mine took some convincing by Eric and myself. I wanted the skins here, but given that the Giants did make the big show last year, I can't see them not making the playoffs this year. Their draft included mostly defensive players, so that will help to back up their already strong-side of the ball. They need their offensive team to play like they did against Minnesota in the NFC championship game if they plan on making it anywhere in this years' play offs. I look for Tiki to have a break out year as the featured back.

Eric - 1st - The signing of DE Kenny Holmes, along with the resigning of Tiki Barber and Jason Sehorn, along with the Giants drafting help for Sehorn on the other side, has me convinced this team is back on track. It will be a toss up between the Eagles and the Giants, but the Giants have the talent and the heart to take the division. The only way this team fouls up first place is their schedule. St Louis, Minnesota, Denver, and Oakland are teams waiting for them, along with their usual enemies within the division. But this is a team that lost once to their division and swept the Eagles, so I give them the edge.

Washington Redskins -
Curt - 3rd - I thought for a while that with Schottenheimer coaching that the skins could get the discipline that they lacked last year. But then the whole Jeff George thing came into play. I just don't know what to think about this guy. One minute he can't be stopped, the next he looks like Ryan Leaf. And now with Skip Hicks gone and there's no backup for Stephen Davis, they have no kicker yet, Deion is gone, what does that leave? A fossel in Darrell Green, Champ Bailey, and Michael Westbrook. Sorry, not gonna happen. 'Ol Danny Snyder is gonna have the fans in Washington all over his case soon.

Eric - 3rd - Philly and NY are the lid on this garbage can division. Now its time to lift the lid and shuffle through the stink. It starts with a dismantled Redskin team. Hicks, Stubblefield (yea!), Derek Smith (yea!), Deion, Jones, Sellers. The list goes on and on. Snyder tried to buy a Super Bowl, now he's having a garage sale. What puts this team at 3rd, and a threat to the post season, is going with Jeff George at QB and the drafting of Rod Gardner. This team has one heck of an aerial attack. Smoot won't replace Deion's ability, but he'll replace Deion's running mouth, as Smoot is a bit of a smack talker. Marty Schottenheimer will not turn this team around, he was a dork in KC and is a dork now.

Arizona Cardinals -
Curt - 4th - Have you seen the write up on how big the Card's offensive line is going to be??? Good grief!!! I saw that there is only 1 guy under 300 lbs. Man… what a massive line!!! Now, hopefully they can block. If so, look for Plummer to finally break out of his 2 year slump. Unfortunately, this team is one that is going to have to prove to the world that they can beat more than just the crap-boys.

Eric - 4th - The line is freaking huge, Curt is absolutely right. They'll be putting 3-4 buffets out of business the first month!! I fear that Plummer doesn't have much talent to throw or hand off to. Boston is pretty good and Frank Sanders can be. Pittman is no 1000 yard back, but the line should help him. The defense took a hit with the departure of Aeneas Williams and Simeon Rice. Not as big of a hit as the one Williams put on Steve Young (damn that Lawrence Phillips) but a big hit none the less. Thank goodness those Cowboys are here to keep this team out of the cellar.

Dallas Cowboys -
Curt - 5th - At the bottom where they belong. These guys have found their future… in Tony Banks. Wow. I'm almost feeling bad for Emmitt Smith, but then again, he is the guy who down played Terrell Owens' celebration on the star in Dallas. As far as I'm concerned… oh well.

Eric - 5th - Can you smell that? Any of you have that grime and crud that lines the bottom of your garbage can, and no matter what you do, it stays there and stinks? It's called the Dallas Cowboys. The team is no longer selling football game tickets, they are selling tickets to the Dallas Cowboy half time show with the Cowboy cheerleaders (hey, at least the team has something going right for them). Aikman, gone. Banks likes to throw the ball high, problem is, with the hole in the roof, it may never land back in the stadium!! And he's throwing to 2 gimps coming back from major leg injuries, and handing off to a "has been" who doesn't know how to respond to a good ol' fashion taunt (ohhhh, slam that ball down on that star, you big tough guy.) George Teague made the best hit he ever had in his pro career on a Terrell Owens who HAD HIS BACK TURNED!! Oh, and if you didn't see the hit, Teague missed the hit, love tapped Owens as he flew by.
