NFC - Central

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -
Curt - 1st - Here is the team that knew what they needed when free agency opened this year and went out and got it. Brad Johnson is what this team has needed for the past 5 years. I can just imagine the excitement on the part of Keyshawn, Dunn, and Allstot. I've heard a lot of people saying that "Johnson is not a super bowl quarterback." To that I say, "Did you watch the Super Bowl this year? Oh yeah, the only 'Super Bowl quarterback' was… Trent Dilfer?" Neither QB in last year's super bowl could ever be labeled as such, so I don't think saying that TB is my pick to win the big one this year is too far off.

Eric - 1st - FINALLY, Keyshawn Johnson has someone to get him the damn ball. I wonder how long it will take Johnson & Johnson (the shampoo company) to get Keyshawn and Brad Johnson into a commercial? Followed by a State Farm commercial with Mike "You're In Good Hands With" Allstot? Probably never…..this team has bigger things going on…..like a trip to the Super Bowl. This team made signing after signing and had the best draft of any team. Looking at the names they lost, a bunch of nobodies….players kept and signed??? Oh man, Johnson, Simeon Rice, Ronde Barber, Walker, Smith, and hard hitting Howell. This team is set and ready to go.

Green Bay Packers -
Curt - 2nd - The only reason this team gets to the 2nd pick is solely because of Brett Favre. His will and desire makes the Packers add 3 wins during the season. I think with Favre's will, he can take my local high school.

Eric - 2nd - This team gets second because it wins the tie breaker with 2 wins over the Vikings, if that is even needed. Packers own the Vikings, and the team didn't do much to contend with the Packers. The Packers bulked up their defense with the signing of Reynolds, and they bulked up their line with the signing of Dotson and Brown. The loss of Verba will hurt, but there are plenty of guys ready to step up and open holes. Holes for a dangerous 1-2 punch if Levens stays healthy and Ahman Green plays like he should.

Minnesota Vikings -

Curt - 3rd - This was a hard pick, but I think I'm right. With Robert Smith gone, and the defense not getting any love from Dennis Green, this is definitely a team that could be in trouble. I feel bad for the Vikes because they have so much talent and promise, but their coach is not looking on the field, he's only looking at his monster QB. They are going to get their points, but I think that their defense is so bad that any team is going to be able to score on them at will. I was going to place them 2nd, but I just don't think that the defense can handle Brett Favre.

Eric - 3rd - The only reason I put the Vikes here is that for the past 4 years I've been on the wagon of saying the Vikes are doomed, and then they pull rabbits out of their rear. This team again looks horrible, but the key members are in place. Can the Vikings go 2 entire seasons using the same QB?? Oh my, they might!!! Carter, Moss, there. Somebody needs to pick up the RB duties left by Smith, and I don't see Bennett being that man. We'll see. And the defense is in shambles.

Detroit Lions -
Curt - 4th - Charlie Batch has to be the biggest question mark of this season, aside from Garrison Hearst. How many games is he going to be injured for this year? The Lions have a very good foundation to have a playoff caliber team in the next couple of years, but they are a healthy quarterback away from getting there. I think the Lions will be the black horse this year. They are going to beat a couple of teams and keep them out of the playoffs, much like Chicago did to them last year.

Eric - My NFC Central picks have changed 10 times because of this team. IF Batch stays healthy for the entire season, this team is #2 or #3, if last years Batch shows up, hurt all the time, then this is where they belong. So keep that in mind before you laugh at me at the end of the season. Marty and Matt have a very fuzzy looking team. The draft brought in 2 new OL guys in the first 2 picks, so some protection is in place. But if Herman Moore walks, nobody is there to pick up his catches or his height (6 foot 4 inches). The addition of Rice without Moore would not make this team better. And this defense is still suspect to Minnesota and Tampa Bays big gun offense.

Chicago Bears -
Curt - 5th - Da Bears are Da bust. AGAIN. Aside from the web page (www.tradecade.com) that really shows what the fans in Chicago think about Cade McNown, the Bears are again going to be a team that gives up 20 catches to some receiver (GO T.O.). They have made a couple of pickups this year, but nothing to write home about. And nothing to make them win any more games.

Eric - If only Brian Urlacher could play every place on the field….. Traylor and Washington were decent signings, James Allen turned out to be an OK RB. But the big problem…… McNown is a putz.
