Its beginning to look like the 49ers are finally going to be in an advantageous position at quarterback given the aquisition of Cade McNown, and the drafting of Brandon Doman. Maybe we can trade Tim Rattay for a conditional seventh round pick! From what I saw of Gio, during limited moments on european football broadcasts last year, he seemed to have real talent to develop. It would be good for the 49ers to maintain their relationship with him so that they can take another look at him next year. They should also sign George Godsey, the graduating QB at Georgia Tech, who who made Stanford's Bowl game last year a misery.

It's great to see so much talent fighting for a few spaces on the 49ers. The safety situation was predictable. I didn't see any need to draft Curtis. Flanigans signing is helpful, but I would have liked to see the Niners sign Reggie Killings and Akbar Gabala-Biamila, a rookie free agent out of San Diego State.

The tight end situation is looking better given Ben Steele's excellent showing for Frankfurt in last weeks NFLE game. He is as classic a TE as one can find, with great hands. Two other players who were just cut by Miami should be given a look by the 49ers: Matt Kalapinsky is a fullback one year out of Maryland. He has a great burst off the ball and has the ability to make great cuts running down the middle. ; Darnell McDonald is a smooth wide receiver out of Kansas State, in his third year after graduation. Some of you may remember him playing for LA's XFL team.

Talk about it in the 49ers Forum
